My life between ruins and dreams
The Theater im Palais is the first theater to present a stage adaptation of an extraordinary woman's novel: In WE PLAY EVERYDAY LIFE, Israeli writer and peace activist Lizzie Doron recounts her daily life between Berlin and its sister city Tel Aviv since October 7, 2023.
She tells of an everyday life that doesn't exist yet continues, of encounters with bereaved families, of political discussions at the hairdresser's, of memorial events growing increasingly stale, and of the silence on the phone with her Palestinian friend.
Through short episodes from daily life, a disturbing, chaotic reality is revealed, one that poses an unexpected challenge to our moral compass and compassion, redefining concepts like home, friendship, and family. Each day becomes a desperate attempt to cling to something, to preserve a dream, to remain human.
In close collaboration with Lizzie Doron, the acclaimed Israeli director Dori Engel brings the novel to the stage as a musical theater piece.
Why now, and why at this theater?
Because seemingly distant conflicts also affect everyday life here, and everyone is currently called upon to continually examine and uphold their values.- On March 22nd, with a post-show discussion.
