Advent Lichter Genuss at Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände

Christmas Market in Berlin on the first two Advent weekends 2023 (2/3 & 9/10 December)

Advent Lichter Genuss in the Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände is an atmospheric Christmas market with art, light installations and arts and crafts. On the first weekend of Advent you can stroll through the enchanted grounds of the cosy market and let the magical illuminations work their magic on you. Enjoy the convivial market life, the romantic lights and the enchanted park.
And don’t forget: Please bring candles in glasses!

Light installations in the nature park

The Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände is a park on the grounds of a former railway yard. Here wild nature grows on the relics from the past times of steam locomotives, while works of art decorate the park.
On this weekend the Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände will be bathed in a magical light and shine in enchanting splendour. Candles and a light installation create a romantic light art effect. Right at the entrance you will see a garden of lights made of countless candles on the meadow in front of the yellow wall. Add your candle and become part of the illumination.

Right behind it, a light artist has transformed the tunnel into an light installation with surprising effects.
In the park you will find further light installations at the points of interest as well as works of art with fascinating light effects and reflections by artist Felicitas Butt, which she designed especially for the Advent market. The striking water tower, the landmark of the nature park, also shines in colourful light.

Art market and handicrafts

The Christmas market takes place at the water tower, in the Giardino Segreto (secret garden), in front of the locomotive hall and the bridge master’s workshop on the grounds of the Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände.
You are sure to find the perfect Christmas present at the market. The exhibitors offer beautiful items, homemade gifts, handicrafts and artworks. Or you can design your gift yourself: for a small fee, you can make Advent decorations and Christmas decorations from natural materials such as pine wood, pine cones, other tree pieces and recycled materials with the help of a florist.
Another original gift idea: a group of Gotland sheep graze on the meadow. The shepherd sells wool, sheepskin and tasty products from the Gotland sheep.

Culinary pleasure

And there is no lack of culinary delights on offer. You can satisfy your hunger with hearty dishes such as bratwurst, homemade gnocchi, tarte flambée, stuffed dumplings, Mexican dishes, köfte and Christmas delicacies. For young and old with a sweet tooth there are crêpes and waffles, almonds and chestnuts. Coffee, mulled wine, fruit wines and seasonal punch are also served at the stands by the water tower.
