Adventsbasar Kirchengemeinde Lübars

Christmas market in Berlin on 3 December 2023

On the first Advent, the Protestant parish of Lübars traditionally invites visitors to the Advent bazaar on the village green of Alt-Lübars in the north of Berlin.

You can spend a cosy afternoon here in a festive atmosphere, perfect for getting in the mood for Christmas, and enjoy the contemplative atmosphere in the village of Lübars.

Lübars was founded in 1230 and was first documented with this name in 1247. The original village structure, including the farms, has been preserved to this day. The village charm and the rural idyll made Lübars a quaint attraction, especially in walled West Berlin. In the old village community life took place on the village meadow and the village green, exactly where the Advent market takes place today. Here the Christian notion of charity is not lost, as the proceeds are donated to Brot für die Welt and Adveniat, two non-profit organisations.

Beautiful gift ideas and a big raffle

At the Advent bazaar you can take your time while browsing for unique gift ideas. Various community groups offer handicrafts, knitwear, beautiful Christmas decorations and other specialities for sale. There will also be another big raffle where, with a little luck, you could win a prize.

Christmas delicacies and trumpet music

You can stop for a break from time to time, keeping up your strength with sausages, soups and waffles and, of course, you should make sure to sample the mulled wine and children’s punch. Trumpet music and communal singing round off the neighbourly Christmas market experience.

Hands-on activities for children

For the little visitors to the Advent market there is a range of hands-on activities. Children can make gingerbread houses and stars and listen to exciting stories in the village school. Santa Claus also pays a visit in the afternoon.
