UNESCO World Natural Heritage Beech Forest Grumsin
Forest, water and bogs
The unique UNESCO World Heritage Site Grumsin Beech Forest is located in the immediate vicinity of the Berlin-Usedom cycle path and approx. 68 kilometres north-east of Berlin. From the main railway station, you can take the hourly RE3 train to Angermünde and, from April to October, hop on the World Heritage bus to Altkünkendorf. The bus starts at the information point there. Four well-signposted forest hiking routes start from here. Venerable copper beeches line the path. The numerous water-filled hollows you pass date back to the Ice Age. And the small swamps and bogs are home to a remarkable variety of species. By the way, along the Grumsiner Genusswanderweg marked with a "G", lovingly run cafés and farm shops invite you to take a culinary break.
