Genghis Khan and the World of the Mongols: In 2027, the 800th anniversary of the death of Genghis Khan, founder of the Mongol Empire, will be commemorated. The Museum of Prehistory and Early History places this pivotal ruler at the centre of a major exhibition, offering an archaeological perspective on the world of the Mongols, which remains relatively little known in Germany.

Archaeological treasures from Mongolia at the James-Simon-Galerie

Highlights include archaeological treasures from Mongolia, many of which have never before been displayed in an exhibition outside Mongolia. The exhibition is further enriched by numerous loans from other collections. The exhibition and its objects offer unique insights into the period from 1250 to 1350, known as the Mongol Century. Of particular importance are the findings of Mongolian-German research conducted over the past two decades, which have revised and expanded our understanding of the Mongol Empire in many respects.
