Plötzensee lido
Surrounded by history in Berlin Wedding
The BerlinPay offer
During the BerlinPay campaign, you can look forward to a special summer’s day by the lake – and receive a free ticket afterwards for your good deed. Plötzensee Lido offers visitors numerous opportunities to get involved and be rewarded.
Clear the lakeside area of litter and take a walk around the lake or out onto the water on a SUP, equipped with tongs and a bag, to protect nature and the animals’ habitats. The activity lasts around 90 minutes and can be done at any time. Please register with Mert at the beach hire to collect your equipment. At the end, you will receive a code for the online shop to book a free ticket.
On 22 May, you can help out at the swimming pool’s inclusion workshop and make an important contribution to inclusion and accessibility, enabling people with disabilities to access the water. Together with the Joachim-Fahl-Haus (Unionshilfswerk), ideas will be developed, measures implemented and the facilities improved for all visitors. The activity lasts 2 to 3 hours. At the end, you will receive two codes for the online shop to book free tickets.
Alternatively, on Sundays during the campaign period, you can lend a hand to the team at the biotope to help preserve biodiversity around the water. Together with experts and scientists from the fields of biology, biodiversity and the environment, you will actively work on the maintenance and further development of the biotope – from planting and digging ponds to woodwork, everything is included. On site, you can speak to Olivier. The activities last 2 to 3 hours. At the end, you will receive two codes for the online shop to book free tickets.

About Plötzensee Lido
Surrounded by the Berlin juvenile detention centre, the Plötzensee Memorial to the victims of National Socialism, and a large cemetery complex, the beach at Plötzensee may not be the first place one thinks of when planning a summer's day out. But that's what makes the privately operated beach is real secret: this is where "real" Berliners and young, hip residents of Wedding gather for a lazy time at the beach.
The beach offers everything you need for a beautiful sunny day: clean sand, a long wooden dock from which to jump into the cool water, a water slide, a playground along with a large set of monkey bars on land, a basketball hoop, rentable wicker beach shelters and, of course, a snack stand. An area worth exploring If you like, you might to explore the area before or after swimming. The Gedenkstätte Plötzensee offers sights of interest not just to history buffs. Also located very close to the beach is the vast Volkspark Rehberge with large lawns for sunbathing and playing sport, an outdoor stage used as an outdoor cinema, among other things, as well as a small nature preserve with fallow deer and wild boar which you can visit at no charge.
