Personal tips from Sophia Hoffmann & Nina Petersen
The pioneers of zero waste cooking reveal their favourites
For Nina and Sophia, it's a way of life: a tasty zero waste kitchen with purely plant-based ingredients. So: it doesn't get much more vegan than at Happa! Anyone who thought yesterday that socially committed and ecologically sustainable cuisine might be limited or even boring will quickly be proved wrong at Happa.
Even the daily menu at Happa is impressive, not just dishes such as roast potatoes with lemon mayo and white kimchi or roasted aubergine with orange tahini sauce and white bean and courgette salad. In the evening, you'll be spoilt for choice between two multi-course vegan menus that will make your mouth water!

Now you're probably curious to see what other culinary hotspots the two owners of Happa will recommend. Here are the tips from Sophia and Nina:
She said: Relax and read with the best coffee and vegan cakes
Do you know the She Said Bookstore in Neukölln? It's a special bookshop where you'll only find literature by female and queer authors. And while you take a look at the books, you can enjoy a cup of very tasty fair trade coffee and a delicious vegan surprise in the adjoining café, which the owners call a ‘speciality coffee shop’: try ‘Feelings and Grenades’, for example, and take off....

Finally find happiness: at Häppies!
The name says it all: for some years now, nobody has left Häppies without a lasting feeling of happiness. How does it work? Visit the small yeast dumpling snack restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg, order one of the heavenly yeast dumplings with sweet prunes and the delicious vanilla sauce that floods everything ... and take a bite: it will not only bring back childhood birthday party memories, but also warm, happy feelings of the land of milk and honey!

And another Happymaker: back to childhood at Love Deluxe
At Love Deluxe, you can have breakfast, but above all a fantastic brunch. The owners describe the resulting feeling of well-being as a ‘capsule of childhood memories’. Enjoy a delicious beef sandwich with a 100 per cent satiety level. Or feast on pancakes and fried egg dishes. A highlight for gastro fans: the Salad Deluxe with baked cauliflower, beluga lentils, black cabbage, tamarind yoghurt, roasted almonds, dried plums and recado negro. After reading this, you will already have an idea of the regions of the world that inspire the cuisine at Love Deluxe: the islands in the South Pacific, the American South and African cuisine.

Last but not least: top-class vegan kebabs
After so many sweet treats, Nina and Sophia finish with a savoury tip: try the doen doen! There is hardly a lack of vegan options in the many kebab parlours in Berlin. But a kebab restaurant that only uses vegan meat from Planted, i.e. pea protein, and creates heavenly variations - that's something very special. Fresh grilled vegetables, cabbage and colourful salads round off this wonder of flavour that is filled to the brim. One thing is certain: you'll be back!
