P61 Gallery
Exhibition space for digital art
The possibilities in digital space are endless. Images come to life and - within the confines of the screen - transport you into surreal worlds that are sometimes enchanting, sometimes disturbing.
The P61 Gallery gives digital artists a permanent exhibition space in Berlin. Just like in a traditional gallery, the 65-inch screens hang in front of elegant black walls that can be moved. This allows the digital works of art to be arranged and presented in different room constellations depending on the theme and exhibition.
The centrepiece is the almost cinema screen-sized screen, which invites you to immerse yourself in the digital worlds of wonder for just under half an hour with pre-programmed sets. Drinks for the film evening for art lovers are available in the bar at the back. Club evenings and release parties are also organised at irregular intervals. In total, there is currently space for just over 50 digital works on two floors.
Scurriles from digital nirvana
The exhibitions usually present an international selection of digital artists. While some create fantastic landscapes in which wondrous plants emerge from digital nirvana in changing colours, others play with self-created creatures. In their high-resolution stunningly realistic, the creatures growing out of pixels surprise with sometimes funny, sometimes absurd changes and contortions. Sometimes dreamy, sometimes irritating, the digital works transport us into surrealistic worlds. Dali's flowing clocks, Stanley Kubrick, Avatar and the science fiction author William Gibson could have been the inspiration here.
The loops of abstract shapes that fit together wondrously or the digital zoom into the framed picture of an old house, which leads back through the rooms to the original picture, are almost meditative. If you want to immerse yourself in the digital worlds of wonder and view the sequences in their entirety, you should bring one and a half to two hours with you. You can also get a first impression in a shorter time frame.
