Slowly, the sun sinks behind the houses, and the blue hour begins. Time for an aperitif or a refreshing drink. And when the first warm days of summer arrive, you can combine that with a fantastic view over Berlin’s skyline. We’ve had a look around and put together our top 11 rooftop bars.
Tip 1: Dance above the rooftops of Neukölln at the Klunkerkranich
Typical Berlin: Klunkerkranich has that laid-back, typically Berlin charm of being a work in progress. The cool Klunkerkranich rooftop terrace is situated right at the top of the Neukölln Arcaden car park. With a drink in hand, you can sit on the wooden platforms, listen to the music and relax as you enjoy the perfect summer evening. And, of course, the cool electronic music acts invite you to dance – under a cosy starry sky rather than in a dark club.
Where: Karl-Marx-Straße 66, Neukölln
Tip 2: Sip a gin and tonic at the Zoe Hotel
An oasis of calm in the heart of Berlin. In summer, the trendy ZOE Rooftop Bar opens on the roof of the Zoe Hotel. There, you can enjoy a fabulous view over the city’s rooftops and delicious drinks. Naturally, the menu features tasty gin cocktails made with selected varieties.
Where: Große Präsidentenstraße 6–7, Mitte
Tip 3: Watch the monkeys at the zoo from the MonkeyBar
It’s no coincidence that the monkeys at the Zoologischer Garten gave the Monkey Bar its name – after all, from the large panoramic window you look directly out onto the Monkey Rock and the animals going about their business. On the other side, the terrace of the Monkey Bar offers views across Breitscheidplatz and City West with its new skyline. The Monkey Bar has now become one of the city’s trendiest bars, so a queue often forms downstairs in front of the lift. But the delicious drinks and the fantastic view quickly make up for the wait.
Where: Budapester Straße 40, Charlottenburg
Tip 4: Close to the sky on the Amano Hotel’s rooftop terrace
Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind on the Amano Hotel’s rooftop terrace, whilst still being right in the heart of the city. In the shadow of the TV tower, you can enjoy excellent drinks, including ginger beer and homemade iced tea. The cosy Whispering Angel x AMANO Rooftop , decorated entirely in soft pink, is the perfect spot for a summer evening as the sky turns first pink and then dark blue.

Tip 5: Stunning views at the Hotel Zoo Rooftop Bar
And here’s another cool tip in City West: the Hotel Zoo Rooftop Bar not only boasts a spectacular panoramic view over the city’s rooftops, but also offers a particularly lovely atmosphere. Beneath a large awning and parasols, a stylish bar area and an elegant chill-out zone invite you to enjoy a lovely evening. As well as the panoramic view, the green jungle wall behind the bar is a real eye-catcher.
Where: Kurfürstendamm 25, Charlottenburg
Tip 6: Enjoy a gin at the Cloud One Bar
“It’s Gin o’clock”: Directly opposite the Bikinihaus and the Monkey Bar lies the Motel One Upper West. The Cloud One Bar on the 10th floor, with its triangular terrace, offers a magnificent view over Kurfürstendamm and Breitscheidplatz. The menu specialises in gin, so you can choose from a wide range of gins and matching tonics. Inside, the bar reflects the hotel’s cinematic theme with large black-and-white photographs of famous Berlin actors and actresses. Outside, you can relax in comfortable club furniture and gaze up at the sky over Berlin.
Where: Kantstraße 163–165, Charlottenburg
Tip 7: The Rooftop Terrace offers the most beautiful view of Berlin
The Rooftop Terrace at the Hotel de Rome is truly sophisticated. It boasts a wonderful view of the elegant Bebelplatz and Unter den Linden, stretching all the way to Berlin Cathedral. Under white parasols, you can sit in style on beige lounge furniture whilst sipping your drink. Torches and lanterns create a atmospheric ambience. Perfect for a balmy summer evening in style.
Where: Behrenstraße 37, Mitte
Tip 8: A real hidden gem: the rbb Studio 14 rooftop lounge
At Studio 14, you can watch the rbb presenters at work whilst enjoying a drink in comfort. You’ll also enjoy a breathtaking view of western Berlin from the 14th floor. And on karaoke nights, you can show off your singing skills.
Where: Masurenallee 20, Charlottenburg
Tip 9: At the Roof Garden in the House of Weekend, you’re right next to the TV Tower
Head right up to the Roof Garden at the House of Weekend. On the 17th floor is the trendy open-air terrace with a magnificent view over Berlin. And the TV Tower seems close enough to touch. After an aperitif and specialities from the grill, you can then party the night away in the club.
Where: Alexanderstraße 7, Mitte
Tip 10: 260 Grad
High above the River Spree, you’ll find one of the city’s coolest panoramic views, as you look out not only over the water but also at the Oberbaum Bridge, the East Side Gallery and the TV Tower. You can then kick off the weekend in a relaxed atmosphere with laid-back electronic music.
Where: Uber Platz 2, Friedrichshain
Tip 11: A bar with a view of the Spree is the Gallery Rooftop
The Gallery Rooftop Bar at the Hotel Indigo Berlin offers a spectacular view over the River Spree and the East Side Gallery from the 8th floor. You can look forward to a stylish lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, an open-air terrace and a wide selection of cocktails. Whether at sunset or under a starry sky – this spot combines an urban vibe with a relaxed atmosphere. A perfect meeting place for special evenings above the rooftops of Berlin.
