Marina Kellen's Lecture on French

Annabelle Selldorf, Managing Director and founder of Selldorf Architects, will present a selection of the practice’s projects – from the Neue Galerie in New York to the recent extension and redesign of the Frick Collection. In doing so, she will offer insights into the practice’s guiding principles and reflect on the importance of discovery and dialogue in architecture.

Annabelle Selldorf founded Selldorf Architects in 1988, an internationally renowned architectural practice based in New York City. The practice works on a wide range of projects, ranging from private and commercial residential buildings to institutional and cultural projects, as well as public infrastructure buildings and the prestigious Château Haut-Brion vineyard in France.

The practice has particular expertise in the complex requirements of cultural projects and has recently completed extensions and renovations at the Frick Collection, the National Gallery in London and the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego.

In May this year, Selldorf Architects, in collaboration with its partner Studios Architecture, won the competition to design the ‘Louvre Nouvelle Renaissance’ project. As the first major refurbishment of the Musée du Louvre in almost forty years, the project will create a new entrance to the Louvre as well as a dedicated gallery for the Mona Lisa.

Other ongoing projects include the Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery, a 50,000 sf extension to the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent in Paris, and the refurbishment of the Wallace Collection in London.

  • The lecture will be delivered in English.

In cooperation with the American Academy in Berlin.
