Spotlighting female jazz bandleaders since 2020.
For the seventh time, the rejazz-festival at Jazzclub Kunstfabrik Schlot showcases outstanding female-led and female-identifying bandleaders from November 19 to 21, 2026—independent, visionary, and internationally connected. Experience three days filled with energy, depth, and creative freedom!
Program:
– DAY 1 –
Thursday, 19 November 2026
The festival kicks off with Israeli harmonica virtuoso Ariel Bart and her trio. Boldly venturing into uncharted musical territory, she elegantly weaves modern jazz with classical and Middle Eastern influences to create dense, chamber-music soundscapes with a cinematic atmosphere.
- Line-up: Ariel Bart – chromatic harmonica, Arseny Rykov – piano, Fabian Timm – bass
Following this, the Silke Eberhard Trio celebrates its proud 20th anniversary. Defined by sharp contours, improvisational intensity, and a blind trust built on two decades of deep friendship, the trio centered around the "Jazzpreis Berlin" winner shapes the scene with untamed playfulness and stylistic freedom.
- Line-up: Silke Eberhard – alto saxophone, Jan Roder – bass, Kay Lübke – drums

– DAY 2 –
Friday, 20 November 2026
Opening the second night, exceptional Dutch saxophonist Kika Sprangers presents her brand-new album. Harnessing a sound of rare, dark beauty, her stellar quintet project river, river uses fluid movement as a powerful metaphor for human life. Moving between deep silence and orchestral power, the music unfolds—at times gently meandering, at times surging in wild, captivating currents.
- Line-up: Kika Sprangers – saxophones, Anna Serierse – vocals, Koen Schalkwijk – piano, wurlitzer, William Barrett – double bass, Wouter Kühne – drums
In stark contrast, the Berlin-based project **Y**, led by the often-masked US synthesist and SWR Jazz Prize winner Liz Kosack, unleashes an interdimensional sonic experience. Her psychedelic excursion between space-jazz and free-rock 'n' roll tears down the boundaries between analog and digital music with raw energy. A fiercely brilliant mix of driving grooves and futuristic synthesizer explorations, recently celebrated by freiStil magazine with a maximum 5-star rating!
- Line-up: Liz Kosack – synthesizer, Dan Peter Sundland – electric bass, Steve Heather – drums

– DAY 3 –
Saturday, 21 November 2026
The final day opens with visionary Swiss Music Prize winner Julie Campiche and her solo project Unspoken. Inspired by Virginia Woolf, she dedicates this performance to female empowerment. Utilizing the harp, electronic effects, and spoken-word elements, she gives a voice to women who have all too often been silenced. The result is a deeply emotional, electro-acoustic sound universe of fragile beauty—a cinematic performance reminiscent of the mysterious worlds of David Lynch.
- Line-up: Julie Campiche – harp, electronics
The grand finale of the festival features a cross-generational, world-class collaboration where avant-garde jazz meets urban club culture. Piano powerhouse Aki Takase, recently honored with the German Jazz Prize 2026 for lifetime achievement, joins forces with exceptional turntablist DJ Illvibe (Seeed) and virtuoso dancer Kofie da Vibe. Together, these three free spirits smash all genre boundaries between improvisation and street dance, creating an unpredictable, pulsating, total work of art in the here and now!
- Line-up: Aki Takase – piano, DJ Illvibe – turntables, Kofie da Vibe – dance
