Public Tour I Sun., Nov. 7 I 12:00 p.m. (German) & 2:00 p.m. (English)

What does a museum look like just before it becomes a museum? The Berlin Botanical Museum is still closed to the public. The historic building has undergone extensive renovation, the new exhibition is taking shape – and some of its most extraordinary objects have already been moved in.

In this exclusive sneak peek, the doors are opening even before the official reopening. Discover rooms still taking shape, take a look behind the scenes and encounter the first exhibits with surprising stories: from plant sexuality to a sequoia whose history stretches back to the Cold War.

Botanical museums are a rarity worldwide. One of them is currently being re-established in Berlin: a museum dedicated to plants, fungi and algae – and to the diverse relationships between them and us humans. In future, it will recount these interconnections in a new light – scientifically, culturally and historically.

Guided tour with Susanne Feldmann, curator of the new exhibition and Head of the Museum & Exhibitions division, and Dr Luiza Bengtsson, Head of the Museum & Society department.

This guided tour is part of the Berlin Science Week 2026 programme.
