“They provoke and must now face the consequences,” say even those on the left when women find themselves targeted by online hate campaigns. This is what happened to Veronika Kracher, the author of the recently published book *Bitch Hunt: Why We Love to Hate Women*, after she gave a talk on left-wing anti-Semitism in Hamburg in 2025.

But what characterises such campaigns, some of which are analysed in the book as examples of the dynamics of anti-feminist mobilisations?

Veronika Kracher shows that these online smear campaigns, characterised by dehumanisation, insults and slander, follow the same old misogynistic pattern of reversing the roles of perpetrator and victim – serving as a bridging ideology in digital online culture, fuelling right-wing authoritarianism and driving social regression. Kracher dissects anti-feminism as a global social trend, an integral part of the capitalist system, rooted in the systemic competition between people and a rhetoric of violent self-assertion. Its social function is to preserve existing relations of production and to discipline those who question them.

The event is a collaboration between Progressive Linke e.V., Münzenberg Forum and Verbrecher Verlag.
