Over the past few years, Spanish Love Songs have carved out a firm place for themselves at the intersection of punk rock, emo and indie rock – with songs that rarely offer simple answers, but instead take a closer look at the very places where life gets complicated.

Since their formation in 2013, the Los Angeles-based band have combined great melodies with brutally personal lyrics about loss, fears, relationships and the challenges of modern life.

Following acclaimed albums such as *Schmaltz* (2018), *Brave Faces Everyone* (2020) and *No Joy* (2023), the next chapter is now upon us: the band’s new album, *Future Nausea*, is due for release on 6 November 2026.

‘No Joy’ had already demonstrated just how consistently Spanish Love Songs continue to evolve their sound. Whilst their earlier releases were heavily influenced by punk rock, on their fourth album the quintet opened up more to new wave influences, synthesisers, shimmering guitars and driving rhythms.

Lyrically, singer and guitarist Dylan Slocum remained true to his direct, richly detailed narrative style. Rather than writing solely in opposition to an increasingly bleak-seeming world, however, the focus shifted to the question of how, despite everything, one can find small moments of happiness, gratitude and inner peace.

‘No Joy’ was produced by the band in collaboration with Collin Pastore, who has worked with artists including Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.

This was followed in 2025 by the stripped-back “No Joy Sessions” and the EP “A Brief Intermission in the Flattening of Time”, before Spanish Love Songs now announce their next big step with “Future Nausea”. The twelve tracks on the upcoming album bear titles such as “Good American”, “Welcome To Hell”, “Living Blues”, “Shadowland” and “Until the Sun Explodes”, and already hint that the band will continue their distinctive blend of dark humour, existential unease and emotional directness.

However, Spanish Love Songs have always been at their most powerful on stage.

Tours with bands such as The Wonder Years and Rise Against have earned them an ever-growing international fanbase. It is there that Slocum’s intimate observations become shared moments: choruses are sung collectively, and personal stories suddenly become an experience that unites an entire room.

In early 2027, Spanish Love Songs will return to Germany for five concerts.

Fans can experience the new songs from *Future Nausea* alongside favourites from previous albums right where the band’s music has the most immediate impact – loud, emotional and as a collective catharsis.
