To bring the ‘Blaue Stunde’ concert series to a close, one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most passionate early works will be performed at St Thomas’ Church: the Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 1 No. 3.

It was with this work that the young Beethoven made his first public appearance with a numbered opus in 1795. He himself considered the C minor Trio to be the strongest of the three trios. His teacher, Joseph Haydn, however, advised him against publishing it, perhaps precisely because it sounded so bold, dramatic and innovative. The performers are Moë Dierstein (violin), Syon Najman (cello) and Johannes Weber (piano).

The festive atmosphere is enhanced by organ music performed by Christoph Ostendorf, who will be playing the grand Beckerath organ at St Thomas’s Church.

In a short space of time, the ‘Blaue Stunde’ has become a popular meeting place for music lovers in Kreuzberg. Every second and fourth Wednesday at dusk, the series invites you to pause for a moment in Kreuzberg’s largest church and experience music in a special atmosphere. This concert marks the end of the series for this year. A wonderful opportunity to experience it once more – or for the very first time.
