The Hexenberg Ensemble brings ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ to the stage with dark humour, cheeky punchlines and surprising twists – a fairytale evening for adults only.

Sleeping Beauty:

To be a child again. Isn’t that what everyone wishes for from time to time!? To let go once more, give in to one’s inner urge to play, and simply be allowed to ask questions with childlike innocence: this is something few adults are able to do. Yet it is precisely a child’s childlike enthusiasm for play and creativity that adults can learn the most from, and which is deeply rooted in us all. Being a child is not a phase of life, but part of being human. It lies dormant within you too, just waiting to be kissed awake from its Sleeping Beauty slumber. May the fun never end!

Little Red Riding Hood

What a prim little girl, the very picture of innocence – what could possibly go wrong … Well, we were urged to remove this fairy tale from the children’s programme: distraught parents subsequently had far too much to explain to their little ones. When read aloud, it is quite edifying. What one thinks of it, of course, remains a private matter. But if you act it out word for word, it becomes explosive.

For this wolf really does have only one thing on his mind: that’s right, the grandmother – what else did you think? And how does he devour her in bed? That’s right: in a single gulp – they’ll be happy to act it out for you. No one, not even the audience, emerges from this fairy tale as sinlessly virginal as they went in. Let Little Red Riding Hood lead you into temptation, stray from the path for a moment, and discover the wolf within you!
