by Malte Schlösser & Team
With the help of lost words, forced jokes, cinematic hyperrealities and musical melancholy, three performers attempt to break free and challenge the notion of ‘successful biographies’.
IN:KON:SIS:TEN:ZEN moves along the fringes of banality and post-splatter, drawing on the aesthetics of rupture. But – and this is the dilemma – one must be able to do that again. Through contradictions, sentences left hanging in the air and contemplative exhaustion, this evening explores the essence of being alive in the face of pressure to succeed and meet expectations, whilst delving into the unknown. A game of failure that seeks neither to win nor to lose.
Malte Schlösser and his team attempt to escape the constraints of a success-driven society, the demands of ‘functioning’ and the ever-present expectations. The theatre performance does not set out to succeed, and yet it sets out to succeed, to forge new connections and to celebrate the moment of coming together.
