The exhibition also pays tribute to the fans’ commitment to securing the release of the hostages. At the same time, it shows how Israeli athletes continued their sporting careers after 7 October and achieved sporting success despite the difficult circumstances.
Adi Rubinstein, curator of the exhibition:
“Hosting ‘Unbroken’ in Berlin is further proof that this city and its people know how to stand on the right side of history. For me, as the exhibition’s curator, this is an incredibly important event that enables me to tell German society the terrible story of 7 October through the lens of sport, strength, determination and hope. I would like to thank the Governing Mayor of Berlin, the World Jewish Sports Museum, the World Jewish Congress and all those who are visiting the exhibition to pay their respects to our history.”
Shir Hermesh, survivor of 7 October 2023 and sister of the murdered Omer Hermesh, may his memory be a blessing – part of the exhibition is dedicated to Omer:
“The fact that the exhibition is coming to Berlin is particularly moving for me and my family. My brother saw everyone as equal and spread love wherever he went. The exhibition focuses on sport and, in particular, on football, the great passion of his life. I would like to thank everyone involved who made this possible. I hope that Omer, wherever he may be, feels that there are people all over the world who remember him and tell his story.”
Admission is free.
