One has no bread. Another has no peace. The third has everything, and yet not enough. Scarcity and excess go hand in hand; they take turns in our lives. Describe a hunger: your own, that of the world, or that of the poor. On 5 December, the time has come – literature is once again given a platform.

The rules are simple: six stories will be read aloud, and one will win. The audience may make requests, but only the jury decides. Publishers are present but remain silent. It is a place for writing.

Entry:

Submissions in German of up to 1,800 words must be sent by 27 September 2026 to ortdesschreibens@gmail.com.

The six texts selected by the curator will be read aloud by the authors on the evening of the event. The jury will not have seen them beforehand and will judge them purely on the basis of their aesthetic judgement. Participation is free of charge.

Prize:

First prize is a box containing three items selected by the jury, as well as a feature on our website. Long live literature.

“To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, and we have no fixed home” – 1 Corinthians 4:11
