But then frauke400 gets up close to her audience, weaving through the crowd just like the stars of the hit parades used to do, and sings directly to her fans. Women in particular feel immediately drawn in by her poignant hooks, whether she’s singing, for example, about communicating with her mother who has dementia (“MuttiMutti”), about the “job of harmony” (“Be supple”) she learnt as a girl, or the urgently needed “transformation” of the patriarchy: “Front men, back men, pulling their strings through middlemen”.

But what is this multi-layered music, somewhere between pop chanson and disco groove, which at times is reminiscent of Stereo Total or Nina Hagen, and at others of 2Raumwohnung or Leslie Hall? frauke400 calls her own creation of idiosyncratic German pop songs ‘ElektroArtPop’: she loves polyphonic vocal lines with an experimental edge, which she weaves into a tapestry of poppy and sometimes quirky 80s synth sounds, complete with groovy beats, flute and saxophone tones, and her twangy guitar.

Every song by frauke400 is a one-off, in which she processes the world around her with a clear perspective into a kind of “New German Wave for adults”. “Life experience can be an asset in the pop business,” says frauke400, actively promoting herself with the hashtag #bin59undwerdepopstar.
