Eastern European sounds at NoonSong

Under the baton of David Cavelius, Chorus Director of the Komische Oper Berlin, this NoonSong features impressive, polyphonic choral works from Russia and Latvia.

Bortniansky’s significance in this context cannot be overstated: his works for his St Petersburg court chapel became the archetype of Russian Orthodox choral music and, furthermore, served as a model for the Berlin Cathedral Choir and, consequently, for Mendelssohn’s music.
