International Short Film Festival Berlin - DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION
When we wish to find ourselves, sometimes it helps to look across the divide, at what we perceive as our opposite – in the form of animals, so-called LGBT-free zones or our own digital fictions. We recognise ourselves in the other, and discover within it a complex amalgamation in constant flux. How do we draw boundaries? How do we assert ourselves and grow stronger in the process? The characters in our five films find their own niches in the liminal spaces of pervasive narratives and choose their own paths to freedom – through differentiation and solidarity, in equal measure.
