Simone de Jong Company (Netherlands) | FRATZ International
Inspired by a ‘Sheltersuit’ – a suit designed for homeless people – the Simone de Jong Company brings a physical, musical and dreamlike performance for young audiences to the stage.
The Simone de Jong Company (Amsterdam, 2015) creates works based on movement, music and imagination. Original, funny, sensitive. Their performances are predominantly non-verbal, as for a young child the spoken word is just one of hundreds of languages. They seek to connect with children whilst also challenging them.
Their pieces are aimed at everyone aged 2 to 7, and at anyone who wants to feel that young again for a while. They start with the physical and aim for the philosophical.
Artistic director Simone de Jong studied modern mime and musical theatre. She teaches both professionals and children and is the author of two children’s books. She believes in the interplay between teaching, directing and writing. Engaging with children is the driving force behind her creative work.
