BERLIN ASIA ARTS CLUB Festival

From 25 to 27 September 2026, the Berlin Asia Arts Club will once again bring together Berlin-based artists from diverse Asian backgrounds on the ‘Insel der Jugend’ in Treptower Park. Over the course of three festival days, a varied live programme featuring literature, music and a range of performances will be created for anyone interested.

To kick things off on Friday (25 September), Thị Thanh Thảo Trần, a Berliner of Vietnamese origin, will read from her novel *People Like Us*, followed by a fast-paced spoken-word evening in English presented by the East Asian group *Sluts in Sarees*.

On Saturday (26 September), the programme includes, amongst other things, the musical and theatrical world premiere of “Swallow and Samsara” by the Nepalese author Nishan Dhakal, featuring the group Nitanta; a reading by the writer Tomer Gardi from his latest novel “Liefern”; and a one-off concert by the award-winning Indian group the Benaras Brothers.

On Sunday (27 September), the focus will be on literary voices: philosopher Liya Yu will present neuropolitics on the subject of racism in a reading and discussion; author Sinthujan Varatharajah will read from his book *wo zeit stehen bleibt*; and the Berlin-based gamelan group Swara bruwang will perform music from the Javanese royal courts on original instruments in their closing concert.

The Berlin Asia Arts Club was founded in 2021 to provide a platform for Berlin’s vibrant Asian arts scene and to create spaces for encounter and exchange. Numerous artists of Asian origin living in Berlin work across genres, combining diverse cultural experiences and forms of artistic expression.

The festival is open to anyone interested. Tickets for the events can be purchased directly at the box office and cost €5 each.
