Film Archive – Entrance (outside)

You can explore Berlin’s film history on foot around Friedrichstraße. This is where pioneers of German cinema worked, producers shaped film policy, and directors shot well-known films.

The entertainment venues of the Weimar era and, later, the techno clubs that emerged after the fall of the Berlin Wall also turned the area into a cultural hub.

The walking tour begins at the Kinemathek’s new location in the E-Werk and winds through the former “Film Quarter” around Friedrichstraße. It highlights historic sites and international filming locations that bring the neighborhood’s history to life.
