WALASHÉ COLLECTIVE
Walashé is a feminist dance collective founded in Berlin in 2018, consisting of the dancers Iman Gele, Lisa Ennaoui, and Laura Kassé. The name “Walashé” means “sisters” and symbolizes the solidarity that unites the collective—artistically, politically, and personally.
Together, they advocate for the visibility of Afro-diasporic dance cultures, create spaces for exchange, performance, and community, and develop their own artistic works at the intersection of Afro-diasporic dance and theater.
Through projects such as the unfolding forms festival, mentoring programs, and stage productions, they are committed to fostering a diverse and more equitable dance landscape and, in particular, to strengthening Berlin’s independent Afro-diasporic dance scene.
