In London in 1929, a suburban theater is in the midst of hectic preparations: The goal is to celebrate the royal couple’s upcoming 20th jubilee in style with a dance revue. Now they must agree on which other major royal jubilees would be suitable as dance performances for the upcoming event. Whether it’s the wardrobe assistant, the director, the actors, or the ticket seller—everyone has their own opinion on the matter.
The production recalls the jubilees of famous English monarchs—Elizabeth I, George II, and George V. Embedded in an entertaining narrative, dances from the Renaissance, Rococo, and the 1920s are performed in magnificent costumes and diverse choreographies, bringing the past back to life.
THE STUDIO FOR HISTORICAL DANCE BERLIN (SHT) E. V. boasts a wide-ranging repertoire of dances from the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Empire, Biedermeier, Gründerzeit, and the 1920s—a repertoire that is constantly expanded with reference to historical sources—and, through its productions, brings the atmosphere of each era back to life.
Since 1996, the SHT has performed regularly with full-length programs and offers additional programs for private and public celebrations.
