Chanson, jazz, swing, tango, Yiddish songs, and rock ‘n’ roll with Chanson-Nette and the Ukrainian-Russian trio Scho
Hop aboard their musical cabaret “Berlin-Odessa Express” featuring chansons, evergreens, and stories from both cities spanning from the 1920s to the present. Spirited, sassy—touching, funny.
For the past four years, the entire route has unfortunately been too dangerous, but lethargy is not an option in the face of Russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine. They’re playing anyway—and now more than ever! With their music and their energy, they’ll take you safely from the Spree to the Black Sea!
Look forward to a humorous mix!
“Chanson-Nette” Jeannette Urzendowsky, a true-blue Berliner, sings and tells songs and stories from her beloved city, spanning from the 1920s to the present day, accompanied with verve by three authentic Ukrainian-Russian musicians based in Berlin: Gennadij Desatnik (violin/vocals), Valeriy Khoryshmann (accordion), and Alexander Franz on double bass.
The trio raves about the cradle of jazz in Odessa and the musical tradition in Poltava, about the multi-ethnic metropolis of Kyiv, and about their Ukrainian homeland. But the three have been living on the Spree for a good thirty-five years now, which is why they also find musical joy in the many things about Berlin that inspire them today.

DAS BALLHAUS:
Dancing and more right in the heart of Wedding, in the solid neighborhood—right in the middle of Berlin. Live music in an Art Nouveau setting, a trip back in time to the legendary 1920s—Babylon Berlin sends its regards: It’s enough to make your head spin, given all the wonderful charms of the revitalized Ballhaus Wedding at Wriezener Straße 6, about a 10-minute walk from the Bornholm Straße S-Bahn station.
This special venue opened in 1889; during the Weimar Republic, the Ballhaus was a hive of activity, but after 1933—and throughout the postwar and GDR eras—this gem fell into disrepair. After German reunification, it was used by motorcycle enthusiasts, and later by photographers and film directors—until Djamila Rempel and Robert Bittner discovered the place in 2021 and decided to breathe new life into the Ballhaus.
