Hambre de Hambre (Hunger of Hunger) is a night of performances that examine the question of what the body is and what right the body has to claim the self—or the self to claim the body—as its own. Through five distinct solos, the audience will experience the dissolution of selfhood and the blurring of boundaries between the body and others. Through butoh and contemporary performance, the performers will explore intimacy, love, ferocity, and ethereal connection.
Offering a glimpse into the practices of performers Sofya Shaikut (butoh), Maria Nolé (butoh), Liliya Burdinskaya (contemporary), Zil Ricker (butoh), and Lulu (performance), the body’s hunger will come to claim its right to the stage, consuming both the performers and the audience as they become intertwined.
