The second event in the “Across Borders: Drawing, Breaking & Shifting” series at BERLIN GLOBAL takes the recent publication “No Border Lasts Forever” by the “Welcome United Kollektiv”, published by Edition Assemblage, as its starting point.

Gemeinsamer Druck von Fahnen für die Karawane der Bewegungsfreiheit

In her lecture, urban researcher Dr Noa K. Ha explores Berlin and its old and new border-making processes. Her approach is guided by the idea that hope emerges through the democratic practice of belonging. In conversation with Muna Abdi and Hassan Nugud, both members of the “Welcome United Kollektiv” and advocates, among other things, for the right to freedom of movement, the discussion will bring together Berlin’s urban history with the struggles and self-organisation of refugees. Together, they will explore how the city can be understood as a practice of porous borders.

The discussion will be moderated by Christian Jakob.

The event will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation into German. The Event is part of the “Berliner Monat für Demokratie”
