A Long Evening of Sonnets

The Sonnet Workshop presents:

Itself. Its sonnets. The best of the workshop—and from your own four walls.

And you’re not just invited to listen: Dig out your own sonnets from your drawers and hard drives and submit them for the open call! Three reading slots for October 7 will be awarded from among all submissions.

Reading slot, all the honors, champagne: The order of the three winners will be announced on the evening itself.

Marc Ottiker and his band project Mo & Kapelle will provide musical accompaniment throughout the evening.

Open Call

A maximum of three sonnets may be submitted per author. Submissions must be anonymous; that is, two separate text documents (.docx) must be sent as email attachments:

- one document containing your name, a brief biography, contact information (email address and/or phone number), and a code word of your choice

- a separate document containing the submitted sonnets, WITHOUT your name, but including the same code word as in the document with your personal information

Both the texts and the personal information must be sent as separate .docx files to: rez.bi@web.de

The submission deadline is September 15, 2026.

There is no specific theme for the submissions, but there is a motto: “Tell all the truth but tell it slant.”

Those who have won a reading slot will be notified by the end of September. Unfortunately, we are unable to send rejection notices to the remaining participants. Please refrain from making inquiries.

The competition is open exclusively to authors from Berlin/Brandenburg, or those who travel to the event on their own. Travel and hotel expenses cannot be covered.
