Spoken Dance - Künstlerische Audiodeskription im Tanz

In dance, audio description refers to the verbal and vocal communication of what is happening on stage—it describes bodies, movements, and situations. As a tool for accessibility, it enables blind and visually impaired people to access dance and theater performances.

The workshop will reflect on artistic approaches and experiences with audio description and address its power-critical dimension. Through a blend of movement-based and descriptive practice, theory, discussion, and experimental exploration, participants will test creative approaches to artistic audio description and examine dramaturgical strategies for dance productions designed for blind and visually impaired audiences. These strategies combine vocal descriptions of dance and performance with sound, rhythm, touch, and other sensory dimensions.

Participants can take on various roles, including those of performers, observers, and narrators.
