Germany immediately after reunification; the second major wave of layoffs hits the East: Women from the former large industrial plants of the GDR speak with a self-assurance that seems surprising today about themselves and the personal independence they gained through their work.
Self-assured and emancipated, they express their astonishment that suddenly only men are expected to do their jobs. They also speak of the utopian ideals of the past that no longer exist today.
These interviews were salvaged from the archives of the former Leipzig pirate radio station KANAL X, recorded on old U-matic tapes.
Along with footage of everyday work life in long-demolished industrial buildings and lignite mines, the film portrays women who have retained their pride and determination to this day.

Tickets: €8.50 (reduced rate €6.50), available online up to 1 hour before the show starts. Remaining tickets are available at the box office. Seating is first-come, first-served—arriving early ensures good seats (no seat reservations).

Please park bicycles only across from the entrance at the metal racks. No parking in the green areas!

The stage is partially accessible but not fully accessible to people with disabilities. Wheelchair access is available, but there are no accessible restrooms.
Companions of people with severe disabilities who have a “B” designation on their disability ID card are admitted free of charge. Service dogs are welcome.
