History of Berlin's North-South S-Bahn

Berlin’s only underground S-Bahn line runs along the north-south axis. Fittingly, the S-Bahn Museum’s special exhibition is located underground, in a former restroom facility at the Gesundbrunnen station.

The exhibition features historical films from the construction period and the dramatic division of Berlin up until 1989. Selected models on a scale of 1:87 illustrate the different series of Berlin’s S-Bahn trains.

The guided tour, which begins at the exhibition, takes you on a journey through the history of railways, the city, and the era surrounding Gesundbrunnen Station.

This event is part of the Berlin Industrial Heritage Festival.

Additional information

The Berlin Industrial Heritage Festival offers you the chance to experience the city in a whole new way. From 12 September to 4 October, around 100 events will bring the visible and invisible heritage of industrialisation to life.
