Frontman of Keimzeit

Norbert Leisegang meets Gregor Gysi. As the singer, lyricist, and frontman of the band Keimzeit, Leisegang is one of East Germany’s most influential musicians.

Since the 1980s, Leisegang has been known for a distinctive sound that blends rock, chanson, folk, and poetic observations of everyday life. Keimzeit had already built up a loyal fan base in the GDR; after reunification, the band gained nationwide recognition with songs like “Kling Klang.”

In the talk series *MISSVERSTEHEN SIE MICH RICHTIG*, the Left Party politician asks the singer about his background and outlook, about music and politics, about life on and off stage—and about how to remain artistically independent over decades without succumbing to the spirit of the times.

An evening about songs, life journeys, experiences in East Germany and after reunification, about contradiction, wit, and the power of good stories. Approachable, intelligent, and with that special tone that arises when two alert minds truly listen to one another.
