A production by students from hfm Berlin and the UdK

In an international metropolis during the COVID-19 lockdowns, a group of international artists comes together for a residency through an open call.

As restrictions (rules, passes, announcements, borders) become increasingly stringent, the conditions of communal life change, revealing different possibilities for safety and retreat.

From the outset, the narrative is structured as a memoir: Rodolfo1 (the author) serves as the narrating voice guiding the reader through the events, while Rodolfo2 (the character) experiences the events within this narrative framework. Mimì is a young local woman from the working class. While the international artists depart, Mimì remains behind; her subsequent path leads to a personal tragedy.

After the lockdowns end, the narrative shifts into a space of Mimì’s hallucinations. The author Rodolfo also reappears in this realm, attempting to intervene in his own narrative and alter its course.
