The History of a Berlin Inn Hall (Now Known as LabSaal)
Norbert Heners-Martin recounts the eventful past of what is now the LabSaal. The former destination restaurant served at one point as a warehouse for the Senate Reserve, but also as a venue for film screenings, masquerade balls, and numerous celebrations.
Nathalie Scholl from the Berlin Center for Industrial Culture (bzi) places the history of the LabSaal within the context of Berlin’s industrial culture. She reports on her research into Argus Motoren GmbH.
Between 1906 and 1945, the Reinickendorf-based company manufactured engines for cars and airplanes. During World War II, the inn hall in Lübars served as a secret storage facility for Argus aircraft engines.
