Together with the Rothko String Quartet, they present a program that draws on a rich musical heritage spanning three centuries and four continents.
From a string quartet by the French-Senegalese composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745–1799) to “Normadic Nirvana” by South African composer Monthati Masebe, born in 1996.
Drawing on the combined energy of both ensembles, they will perform “The Holy Presence Of Joan D’Arc,” Julius Eastman’s poignant homage to the medieval heroine and queer icon. In our series “Berlin – Music of the City at the Konzerthaus,” musicians and ensembles from Berlin come together to experimentally blend classical Western music from various centuries with styles that all call this city home—from voguing to strings and synthesizers to jazz.
Berlin Tracks aims to inspire, connect communities, and invite listeners to follow the diverse musical paths that together make up the soundtrack of our city.
