5 Short Films by Mox Mäkelä
Her artistic practice has its roots in the visual arts. However, Mäkelä broke away from traditional forms of expression early on. Since the 2000s, she has increasingly worked with the medium of film. In her eco-critical short and feature films and installations, she explores the tension between nature and human nature. In addition, she has developed her own film genre, which she calls kuunnelmaelokuva (“audio drama film”).
STATUS (7 min.)
Her working group is like our working group, even if we might mean something different. The difference is, for example, that they lay eggs in plain sight with absolutely no secrets—and what about the scale, what about the rules, the clarity!
SUMMER’S Tale (9 min.)
A little girl spends her summer vacation in an aquarium filled with a strangely colored liquid. Based on this experience, the short film forum “Story Ambient” unfolds as a loosely connected collection of stories, images, and memories.
SOS — MEDIA LOVES YOU (4 min.)
SOS, the media loves you more and more.
HOSPITALITY FIN€ (4 min.)
The flowing, side-slanted skirt seems harmless at first. But underneath, an angle grinder with a diamond blade is spinning. In this system, any complaint about the service appears to be a risky mistake.
Zsar Outlet (5 min.)
A prediction, of course. In the halls of commerce, the desires of the great powers converge. The hammered bones of the East rotate in time with the broken bones of the West.
