Lied and Poetry: *Des Knaben Wunderhorn*
*Des Knaben Wunderhorn*, edited in the early 19th century by Achim von Arnim and Clemens Brentano, remains to this day the largest and most influential collection of German-language songs.
The more than 700 poems served as a virtually inexhaustible source of inspiration, not only for Gustav Mahler.
In the season’s first “Song and Poetry” program, Julius Drake, together with mezzo-soprano Marie Seidler and baritone Jusung Gabriel Park, presents well-known and lesser-known Wunderhorn settings from the 18th to the 20th century, complemented by readings of the original texts.
