This season, it’s that time again: The Karajan Academy will award the Claudio Abbado Composition Prize to an outstanding emerging composer.

The prize includes a commissioned work composed specifically for the Academy, which will receive its world premiere at this concert. Visual artist Norbert Bisky will also provide a visual experience by creating a work live on stage to the sounds of the music.
The program is rounded out by Arnold Schoenberg’s expressionist *Verklärte Nacht* and Mozart’s passionate Symphony No. 40.
