Songs by Schubert, Brahms, Bruch, and Fürstenthal

The Austrian baritone Rafael Fingerlos is one of the most compelling singers of his generation, not only on the opera stage but also as a lieder singer.

For his debut at the Pierre Boulez Saal—originally scheduled for 2025—he will perform alongside Joseph Middleton, presenting works by Schubert, Brahms, and Max Bruch as well as a true rediscovery:

Lieder by the little-known Robert Fürstenthal (1920–2016), who, after emigrating to the U.S. in 1939, did not return to composing late Romantic music—in which echoes of his native Vienna resonate—until his later years.
