Learning to shape the future
Participants will step into the role of a person from the future and, from that perspective, create a story about what life might look like in 10, 20, or 50 years.
Futures Storytelling is a tool of futures studies that helps make complex challenges understandable and emotionally accessible—both professionally and personally. Because: The future is what we make of it!
In terms of content, participants will explore the question of how agriculture can protect ecosystems and biodiversity.
Without agriculture, there would be no breakfast, no clothing, no furniture. It provides for us, shapes landscapes and societies—yet at the same time, it contributes to the destruction of ecosystems and the loss of biodiversity. How can we reconcile these two aspects?
In this workshop, everyone will look together at agriculture in the year 2040:
-> How can people practice sustainable agriculture with limited resources?
-> How can agricultural production be reconciled with the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity?
-> What social and political measures can promote biodiversity?
The event is part of the workshop series “Learning to Shape the Future,” which takes place once a month as part of the Open Lab evening. Over four modules, you’ll learn well-founded methods for shaping the future, which you can compile into your own personal toolkit for the future.
Workshop Facilitator
The Berlin Ideas Lab is a lab for transformation design. The team supports organizations in the design process of sustainable product and service innovations as well as desirable visions of the future using methods from futures studies, design thinking, and visual storytelling.
