7th AVANT ART FESTIVAL BERLIN

Polish Art Week / 7th Avant Art Festival Berlin is an interdisciplinary programme dedicated to contemporary experimental practices in music, performance, and audiovisual art.

This year’s edition unites Polish artists with key representatives of international independent scenes, presenting collaborative, improvisational projects that cross genre boundaries. Alongside concerts and performances, the festival includes educational activities, artist talks, workshops, audiovisual installations, and community-oriented events, positioning culture as a space for encounter, dialogue, and exchange.

A TRANSNATIONAL FESTIVAL ACROSS BERLIN

Taking place across multiple venues in Berlin, including Silent Green, Panke, Arkaoda, Zenner, Kunsthaus KuLe, ACUD Club, Morphine Raum, and Panke Gallery, the festival creates a dynamic dialogue between the Polish contemporary scene and the broader international landscape of experimental music and contemporary art.

Polish Art Week focuses on Polish artists and international collaborations involving creators connected to the Polish scene, while Avant Art Festival expands the programme through projects emerging from global avant-garde and independent communities. Together, the two interconnected festivals present a broad spectrum of contemporary experimental practices — from improvisation, noise, and electroacoustic music to audiovisual performance, site-specific works, and transmedia projects.

ARTISTS AND PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

This year’s programme features performances and projects by Antonina Nowacka, Alva Noto, Drew McDowall & Pedro Maia, Evicshen, Chris Pitsiokos, Marta Warelis, Qba Janicki, Artur Rumiński, Jerzy Mączyński & J. “MO’ONG” Santoso Pribadi, Andreya Casablanca, Takkak Takkak, HULUBALANG, and many others.

Beyond the concert programme, the festival extends into collective and participatory formats, including workshops for children, audiovisual installations, artist discussions, and culinary gatherings designed to foster informal exchange between artists, audiences, and local communities.

VISUAL ARTS

The festival programme extends beyond concerts and performances into the visual arts with two projects.

Women-Antennas (Agata Konarska & Agata Lankamer) present The Gospels of Aerial, an immersive installation combining video, gaming aesthetics, and speculative fiction.

Cubature: The Art Game by Polish studio Cyber kids on real transforms the Gallery of the Polish Institute in Berlin into a fully playable, immersive environment. Presented as a satellite event of A MAZE. / Berlin 2026, the exhibition allows visitors to physically enter the game’s world. Modular structures, handcrafted scenography, analog photography, and distinctive sound design reveal how complexity emerges from the simplest elements.

CULTURE IN TIMES OF SHARING AND DIVISION

Avant Art Festival and the Polish Institute Berlin invite professionals from the dance scenes in Berlin and Warsaw, and the visual arts scenes in Berlin and Wrocław, to an afternoon of social and professional networking bringing together representatives of institutions, festivals, and independent organisations.

Two dedicated networking sessions will be held: #1 Dance Scenes in Berlin and Warsaw and #2 Visual Arts Scenes in Berlin and Wrocław. They will focus on questions of cross-border collaboration, local cultural ecosystems, institutional strategies, and the challenges of working within rapidly changing political and economic contexts.

The main partner of the networking session #1 Dance Scenes in Berlin and Warsaw is the Capital City of Warsaw, as part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the partnership between Warsaw and Berlin.

The main partner of the networking session #2 Visual Arts Scenes in Berlin and Wrocław is the Wrocław Contemporary Museum.

The festival is organised by Avant Art and co-organised by the Polish Institute Berlin. Main partners include the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, Wrocław Contemporary Museum and the City of Wrocław, the Capital City of Warsaw, Kunsthaus KuLe and Berlin School of Sound.
