A play about troubled relationships

With “Volcano Lover,” director David Silber has created a compelling stage adaptation for the theater group of the KulturLeben Berlin association—loosely based on motifs from Susan Sontag’s novel *The Volcano Lover*.

The story centers on Sir William Hamiltona passionate volcanologist and collector—his charismatic wife Emma, and her famous lover Nelson.

Amidst love, power, passion, and social constraints, a multi-layered drama unfolds, accompanied by a mysterious “diabolical” narrator who repeatedly makes the characters relive their story.

The theater group was founded in 2011 by Gabriele Dietrich—a dedicated and experienced theater volunteer. Following two successful productions in 2014 and 2016, the ensemble is now returning to the stage at the end of May with its new production.

Composer and musician Paul Brody will provide the musical accompaniment with his KulturLeben project “Bühne frei.”

You are cordially invited to experience this special theater premiere.
