Public City Walk: “Berlin, City of Film”
Pioneers of German cinema worked here; film policy was shaped here, and numerous films were shot here. At the same time, the entertainment venues of the Weimar era and, later, techno clubs after the fall of the Berlin Wall shaped the cultural life of the area.
The tour begins at the Kinemathek’s new location in the E-Werk and winds through the surrounding neighborhood, once known as the “Film Quarter.”
The stops include selected sites of filmmaking and international filming locations that shed new light on the area.
