Guided visit

What do a wedding photo, a magazine from the Soviet Union, or a handmade bag have to do with personal freedom and human rights?

All of these objects tell the story of people in the GDR who stood up for their rights. In the fall of 1989, thousands of East Germans took to the streets to peacefully protest for freedom, democracy, and human rights. But how did people assert their rights in everyday life in the GDR?

You are invited to explore these questions during a one-hour tour of the permanent exhibition “Everyday Life in the GDR.”
