Hybrid-digital, transnational media, music and dance performance
MAMI WATA is a hydrofeminist performance installation inspired by European and non-European bodies of water. At each venue, we explore local relationships between people and their waterways - harbours, rivers, lakes, or seas - gathering rituals, myths and artistic practices that have evolved there over time.
Water as fluid memory: carrier of history, trauma, and utopian possibility. The Cameroonian siren Mami Wata bridges colonial history and future vision, land and sea, life and death.
Bodies and digital tools become living archives: carried from place to place, dissolving and connecting within a physical and virtual ritual. Stay hydrated.
