Through the exhibition ‘IM FOKUS. Collected Stories’ with research volunteer Sophia Peix

For many German-Jewish families in the 19th and early 20th centuries, an intercultural family celebration at the end of the year was a matter of course. This was also the case for the Liebermann family: in 1908, Max Liebermann wrote to his friend Alfred Lichtwark, “I celebrate all holidays, Christian, Jewish, Muslim [...]”. We would like to invite you to celebrate “Weihnukka” with us at Wannsee.

Author and Jewish studies scholar Sara Klatt will give a lecture (in German) tracing the historical and contemporary cultural practices of this festival. Afterwards, we look forward to enjoying a convivial get-together with you over marzipan cake!

This evening marks the conclusion of the two-year educational project “Max Liebermann and Jewish Life in Berlin.”

  • Funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany and the Fight against Anti-Semitism.
