BOOK RELEASE

A topographical journey through time through Berlin - The city of Berlin was all too often at the center of events in the 20th century. Berlin was a monarchical, a democratic, a fascist and a socialist capital. From here, two world wars were carried into the world, which fell back on the city with great force.

The Cold War came to a head in Berlin before it came to its symbolic end here. The city was at the center of world history, like Rome two thousand years ago. That's why Berlin is considered the Rome of contemporary history.

Hanno Hochmuth approaches the history and present of Berlin in a topographical and photographic manner. Based on popular descriptions of the city, he goes to 51 historical locations and tells the story of Berlin in the 20th century.
